Sole Fish!

The project “Sole fish” turned out great! We made standing slab fish using the bottom of our shoes for texture. The objectives of lesson were to
1) Help the students gain a better understanding of what texture
2) Teach students the method of slab rolling
3) Enhance the student’s descriptive writing abilities.
The students all seemed to understand that texture is what the surface of an object feels like. All the fish had unique and interesting textures! All the students were successful in rolling out their own slabs as well. The students are going to write about the creation process in their art journals and write a story describing their fish!
I really enjoyed this lesson and would definitely do it again. All the students were able to participate, learn and succeed.

  1. Whoa. That is a seriously cool project. I love the tie-in with descriptive writing as well. Thanks for sharing!
